Chevron and the Gush

give July 26, 2017

After a 6:30am wake up, davening, and breakfast, we loaded the bullet proof bus today to chevron. There we learned about our avot and emahot that are buried there, and we had the amazing opportunity to pray at their memorial sites. It was very special to be there after learning about them in school my whole life. We then got a short tour of a few other sites in chevron, like the memorial for shalhevet and the Avraham avinu shul. Afterwards, we got back on the bus and drive to gush etzion museum, where had a falafel lunch and learned about the history of the gush in a moving way. Following the museum, we went to work and volunteer at oz vagoan, the memorial park for the three boys. There, we laid the stones, and made cement from scratch, to build a bench around a bonfire pit. I really felt connected to my ROOTS while working hard and sweating hard for my country and my land. We then drove back to our base in beit shemesh for a delicious dinner. After dinner, we showered and packed for our trip this weekend, and then went downstairs for our super fun night activity. We disconnected from our phones, and learned how we can use technology for the good. In teams, we each created a technological way to get our mission across. My groups mission was the create an easy way for parents to find babysitters. We made an app and a funny advertisement for it. Today was a very exciting, fun and fulfilling day and I enjoyed it very much. I am really looking forward to what tomorrow will bring!
